Roll On Roll Off Containers (often shortened to RORO) are the largest skips that you can hire in the UK. Their size makes them ultra convenient for bigger waste-producing projects where bulky items, or a lot of rubbish, need to be removed from a site.
The main difference between the two is that standard-sized skips have a smaller capacity and are lifted on and off lorries, whereas RORO containers are much larger in size and are rolled on and off special vehicles (hence the name!) This makes the process of moving the containers to and from construction or demolition sites more of a logistical issue, but the larger capacity of RORO containers will mean a less frequent need to swap full containers for empty ones; minimising the disruption to your site’s daily operations.
It’s tempting to dispose of all kinds of waste in a RORO container, but there are actually strict limitations in place as to what you can and can’t dispose of in them. Here’s a guide to help you ensure that a RORO container is used correctly:
Items That Can Go In A RORO Container:
Items That You Will Require A Specialised RORO Container For:
Some hazardous items will require you to notify your RORO skip supplier if you intend to dispose of them in your container. Some suppliers may agree to dispose of these items for you, but will often charge you an additional fee for the work and others will refuse to handle these items at all. At Morley Skips we can provide a specialised RORO container that has been adapted for hazardous materials.
These include:
Fill Level: It’s important to ensure that your waste does not exceed the maximum load level mark that’s indicated on the inside of the RORO container.
Even Load: It’s a good idea to try and load your waste as evenly as possible within the container so that its weight is evenly distributed across the RORO container. This will help to make sure that your container can be transported safely away from your site.
Never Try And Move The Container: Only members of your RORO supply team will be permitted to move the container from where it is placed when delivered. Please don’t try and do this yourself. If your container needs to be relocated during your project, you should call your supplier.
These days, nearly every construction project has strict sustainability targets to meet. Hiring Morley Skips to supply your RORO container and dispose of the waste you deposit, is a surefire way to ensure that what you throw away is dealt with responsibly and in accordance with national regulations and guidelines.
After collecting your RORO skip from your site, we’ll take it to our Waste Transfer Station where its contents will be manually checked and sorted in line with our principles of Reuse, Recycle and Repurpose. Our goal is always to limit the amount of waste in a RORO container that ends up in landfill, and we are able to recycle:
The Morley Skips team has been helping domestic and industrial clients to manage their large volumes of waste for over a quarter of a century. Our clients know that they can rely on us to deliver high-quality RORO containers on time and receive the highest levels of customer service with every project.
We can deliver two different sizes of RORO containers to any accessible construction or domestic site within our region:
Ideal for waste from construction or demolition projects, as well as from shop refits, home renovations and other small-scale developments. These containers have low sides so they can be loaded by hand.
This high-sided container is best for larger projects such as factory clearances and big demolition tasks.
Both types of container measure 6.1 metres in length and are available with either an open top or roll top covering.
If you need a waste removal container that’s larger than your average skip, contact the RORO container specialists here at Morley Skips. We’ll be happy to help.
